Having a baby can be exhausting enough as it is. But delivering your baby by c-section can make your recovery time even longer, and more of a process to bounce back to feeling your old self.

Between your body feeling deflated, your post-surgery incision aching, and being completely exhausted, it’s not exactly the most glamorous you’ve ever felt in your life.

However, with just a few beauty essentials on hand, you can quickly and efficiently make yourself feel just a little bit more presentable. Not for anyone else, but for you.

Under Eye Concealer

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then after having a baby, anyone peering into your eyes is looking into a woman 5 cups of coffee deep, pondering whether she’ll ever sleep again.

When caring for a newborn, parents rarely have time to shower, much less put on makeup. A full face of makeup is most likely out of the question. When you’re pressed for time, and can only afford the luxury of one thing on your face, make it under eye concealer!

Just the slightest pop of a lighter shade under your eyes can give the illusion of being years younger, and YEARS more rested.

After patting a little concealer under your eyes, seal with a light powder to prevent caking in the creases.

Tanning Lotion / Bronzer

Adding some color to your pasty skin can bring you back to life! When applying a bronzer or tanning lotion, make sure to avoid your breasts if you are breastfeeding, or you risk a pretty foul taste for your baby!

Additionally, don’t apply over your cesarean incision until at least 6 weeks post surgery to avoid any infections. Apply evenly, avoiding contact with your elbows, knees, and ankles so as to not create any patches.

Just a little bit of bronzing can do you a world of wonder, and give the impression that you’ve been outside in the sunshine, rather than behind closed curtains healing from a major surgery!

A Cute Hat

Some days you won’t even have time to brush your hair. Instead of scaring yourself each time you look in the mirror, opt for a cute hat that stays near the side of your bed for quick access.

Reach for this hat and slip your hair under it, and no one will even suspect you haven’t showered in 48 hours!

Yoga Pants

A comfortable pair of yoga pants is the perfect postpartum/surgery attire. In addition to being flattering and hugging your rear in all the right places, they are also extremely versatile.

Yoga pants provide the option of being worn above your belly button or rolled down at the waist to wear at the hips.
