5 Breastfeeding Must-Haves

March 1, 2023 By Carmen Te

Most people can agree that breastfeeding has many benefits which will last a child a lifetime. Therefore, many mothers are choosing to breastfeed over a bottle. With the right tools, you can make sure that your breastfeeding experience is as positive as possible.

In order to be comfortable, you will need to have the right things to turn to in order to avoid things getting irritated or risking not enjoying your experience. If you set yourself up for success then you can ensure that not only are you doing the best thing for your baby, but you will also get to enjoy an incredibly unique and wonderful experience between you and your baby. Here are some of the most essential must-haves that you should have on hand for your breastfeeding experience.

Nipple Cream

The first few weeks of breastfeeding, your nipples will be adjusting to the new sensation of friction and sucking from your baby’s mouth. You may experience pain even leading to scabbing. However, this will not last forever. Make sure to apply an all natural nipple cream which is safe for your baby to suck on and will ease you of any discomfort.

Breast Pump

At first, your breasts will be adjusting to the milk levels which it requires in order to feed your baby. In the beginning, they may overcompensate and you will leak a lot. In between feedings you should make sure that you pump your milk to save any excess. You can either refrigerate this milk or freeze it. This way you will have extra food for them if you ever have to be away from them and they need to be bottle fed.

Breast Pads

Breast pads ensure that you won’t leak all over your clothing. They are simply inserted into your bra and will serve as a barrier to avoid messy stains which may be embarrassing in public.

Nursing Tanks/Bras

Nursing tanks and bras are essential in order to be able to comfortably feed your baby at any time. When you’re in public and need to feed your baby quickly you need to make sure that you are equipped to be able to do it on the fly at any moment.

Therefore, a nursing tank and bra is the perfect tool to be able to feed comfortably without feeling like your clothing is squeezing you in the wrong places or makes your breast hard to access.

Nursing Pillow

A nursing pillow makes it possible to be able to rest your baby’s head under the breast and place your arms in a natural position without straining them. You will be doing a lot of sitting down and nursing during the first few months of your baby’s life, so this makes it all the more comfortable.
