		<description>:) I don&#039;t feel parents have anything to worry about. I agree with Burke -- as the child goes through life, what they are destined to will somehow manifest itself in later years.

Though I have observed many parents (more so dad) get really hot about the issue -- some over compensate with the sports activities and rough play the child is then subjected to.

		<description>We&#039;re pretty hands off when it comes to gender-entrenched activities with our two boys.  We&#039;re honest with them about social expectations, but if they want to dance ballet we&#039;ll be right there behind them.  As long as it&#039;s not detracting from them being kind, thoughtful, honest, and hardworking human beings, they can do what they want.

I figure it&#039;s either something they&#039;re destined to do and there&#039;s no stopping them or it&#039;s not, and social pressures later in life will push them towards something they ARE deeply committed to.</description>
