According to a report from ABC news:

"It's not just Crocs that pose a danger -- any soft, pliable shoe, even flip-flops, can be dangerous on an escalator. "

"The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates about 10,000 people go to the emergency room every year after accidents on escalators. Of those, 20 percent involved having hands, feet or shoes trapped."

I think it is unfair for Crocs to bare the burden of this problem when it is basically any soft pliable shoe that is dangerous on escalotors and moving walkways. I think one of the biggest attractions to Crocs is the soft pliable material that they are made of. The only thing they could change to make them safer is the material and then what would be the point of having them anyway.

And I dont mean to be condesending but I don't think it would kill any of us to take the stairs.

Great post. My kids are only allowed to wear their crocs at poolside - from when they get out of the pool to go into the change room. Once they're dressed they change into more "walking friendly" shoes. I find that crocs are handy if you want something fast to slip on their feet when they get out of the water, but they're awful to walk long distances in: as in, my four year old keeps tripping when he wears them.
