Fun With Fur – Proven Stress Relief or Is It?

Our furry friends have been known to lower stress of parenting and childhood for they offer companionship without question even if they do get around to mischief from time to time. Raising kids can be quite hectic specially in today’s recession wrecked economy but having them take care of a pet can be a nice way to teach them some responsibility. They do entail some costs for care and veterinary services to ensure they are fit and well but take my word for it, they’re well worth the cost so knowing the breed through updated dog information is essential for both your sakes.
You can also try animal shelters and animal charities for some pets that have had it rough and need loving families. May you be a pet lover or not, dogs and all other pets deserve care for they are our responsibility. Dogs are more energetic than cats and may even contribute to the health of your family as you have to take them for walks, call it a symbiotic existence where both benefit from living together.
Parents and kids alike will benefit for with the kids, they get to get a taste of responsibility and compassion for animals. For us adults, they become a sort of multi-tasking ward, guarding our homes, watching over the kids and what can we say, it’s just fun to talk and pour out stress without having the other party answer back!!!

Our dog is a proven stress reliever for my family. It is a good way of teaching my children the importance of pets. We always go to the park so that our dog can run freely with other dogs.

Furry friends are fine and I agree that they are stress relievers, but it usually only works in single-child households. When the child-factor goes over three, a dog in the house can just as easily be an additional stress factor that a stress reliever. When it is a puppy, kids fight or vie for its attention and parents often has to install another set of rules around the handling and sharig of the animal. Getting another dog is not the answer either, it just doubles up on the burden. Later on when the dog grows older and the newness of the puppy dissapears, kids return to their normal routine and so ofter mom or dad is left with caring for the dog or dogs (!) – Picking up poop, feeding, cleaning, etc, etc, etc. A dog can be much more of a chore than a child sometimes, believe me.
Also, you have the problem that if your children are still crawlers or babies, soon, you are not going to want the dog to come in from outside and walk where your baby is crawling, because you’re the one who is going to have to clean the floors and carpets all the time for fear of hair, worms and/or disease transferred from the dog to the baby.
I believe a dog should be a companion, an addition to a family and so often I see families with multiple children where the dog gets abandoned to the backyard after it has lost its cuteness. And that is not good for the family and even less so for the animal who is left alone for long periods of time with no companionship. Many such cases borders or spills over into animal abuse.
I’m not saying “Don’t get a dog”, I guess what I’m saying is, that plan for a dog as you would for your next baby, make sure that you are at the right stage and have the capacilty to make it part of your family in the correct way so that neither you nor your dog suffers in the end.

They are very cute and fun-loving pets. I agree that it can help reduce stress. I also agree that when planning for a pet, you should be ready and think about the circumstances that may happen. So, you need to think about the responsibility of having pet in your house with your family.
