A friend threw a neighborhood Easter egg hunt the likes of which I've never seen. They hid hundreds of plastic eggs full of goodies and had a local farm bring over some small animals for a petting zoo. The kids got to entertain themselves and the parents mingled. I like the idea of starting an annual tradition like this, it brings the neighborhood together and makes the world feel a little smaller.
